Mental Prep

  • Rehearse your personal intro (model vulnerability)
  • Decide how strict you’ll be on time
  • Identify 1-2 culture points to emphasize
  • Remember: you set the vibe

Opening the Session (First 5-10 Minutes)

  • Start on time
  • Welcome everyone warmly
  • Thank them for showing up
  • Acknowledge time zones and energy levels
  • Explain the flow of the session
  • State clearly: this is not a hackathon

Participant Introductions

  • Share the intro template
  • Model your own intro first
  • Keep answers short (gently cut long ones)
  • Call out interesting overlaps or themes
  • Encourage curiosity, not comparison

DM tip: This is about people, not credentials.

Culture & Expectations

  • Explain what a DAO is (high level)
  • Emphasize decentralization as a spectrum
  • Explain RaidGuild’s stake -> shares -> governance model
  • Highlight agency and self-direction
  • Introduce the Code of Conduct pillars
  • Frame RG as collaborative, fluid, and sometimes challenging

Optional:

  • Mention Moloch / coordination failure
  • Share links for deeper reading (don’t dwell)

Theme Reveal

  • Explain why the theme was chosen
  • Reveal the theme clearly
  • Share 1-2 example ideas
  • Share 1 wild or speculative idea
  • Encourage curiosity, not pressure

Calls to Action (End of Session)

Make the next steps extremely clear.

  • Ask everyone to:
    • Drop an intro in chat (if not done live)
    • Fill out their profile in the portal
    • Select skills / roles for this cohort

Other stuff:

  • Share relevant links in chat
  • Explain what happens on Day 2 (Raider Showcase)
  • Share schedule for the rest of Week 1

Time Capsule Prompt

  • Ask the reflection question
  • Explain it will be revisited at cohort retro
  • Collect responses (form / chat / portal)

Close the Session

  • Thank everyone for showing up
  • Re-emphasize excitement and openness
  • Invite questions async
  • End on a positive, forward-looking note

Post-Session Follow-Up (Same Day)

  • Post recap message in Discord
  • Share recording (if applicable)
  • Re-share CTAs and links
  • Skim chat for unanswered questions
  • Note:
    • who seemed engaged
    • who might need a nudge
    • any confusion to clarify tomorrow

DM Reminders

  • You are setting culture, not policing it
  • Silence does not equal disengagement (especially Day 1)
  • Some people will decide this isn’t for them - that’s OK
  • Momentum > perfection
